Welcome to my pad.

My name is Bobby Turman, Jr. I spent over 35 years in the food and hospitality industry doing everything from management, corporate trainer, wedding coordinator, catering, event organizer…well, really just a little bit of everything. One day I decided to leave that life behind and take a year to re-invent myself. I’d always wanted to start my own restaurant.

After a year of planning and soul-searching, I woke up one day and realized there was no way in hell I wanted to do that. I was getting far too old to begin working 16 hours days, 7 days a week. Yet, I still had a passion for food, drink, and hospitality.

So what did I want to do?

My other passions included a love of history and writing. So, I decided to combine all these elements into one gig and write a blog. Recipes, cast iron cooking, restaurant reviews, interviews with area entrepreneurs, nutrition information and a cornucopia of topics related to food and drink can be found in my articles and events. About 6 months into my journey of writing this blog, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Very often I will include that outlook in my articles, either in part or in whole.

Thus, The Hungry, Hungry Hippie was born.

I live in Historic Downtown Murfreesboro, TN with my wife Sheryl Miller-Turman, The Missus. We also own Hippie Haven Studios, an art and design studio.

Our CFO is our cat, Woodfin. Three grandchildren…Selma, Lincoln, and Max…provide logistical and technical support.
